NKUA is a public university; the oldest and second largest in Greece. It has hosted a large number of European projects in every Framework. The Department of Informatics & Telecommunications had been ranked among the top 100 Computer Science departments by Academic Ranking of World Universities; it has included 5 recipients of ERC grants. The Lab of Geometric and Algebraic Algorithms (ErGA, http://erga.di.uoa.gr/) was founded and is led by I. Emiris: it now includes 3 faculty, 1 Postdoc fellow, 5 PhD and a few MSc and BSc students. Alumni include 6 PhD students and 5 Postdocs. The Knowledge Discovery in Databases (KDD, http://kddlab.di.uoa.gr/) Lab was founded and is led by D. Gunopulos and includes 3 faculty, and 3 PhD students. Alumni include 2 PhD students and a Postdoc.
